On any given day during recess, Westfield elementary students might be found engaged in energetic games, gleefully bouncing balls, or just generally scampering about. But look closely and you’ll also spy a determined group of youngsters running the roughly quarter mile perimeter of an elementary field over and over again.

A once traditional space at Westfield High School has been transformed into an Innovation Classroom with a digital presentation podium, LED lighting, laptops with computer aided design (CAD) capabilities, motorized window shades, retractable ceiling mounted power cords, furniture on wheels, and more.

It was a morning of fitness and fellowship across the district as more than 2,500 elementary students and their families celebrated Walk to School Day in Westfield on Oct. 3.
Westfield Public Schools observes the Week of Respect with many lessons and activities at each of the district's 10 schools. "Respect is something we practice daily in Westfield Public Schools. So we called this week the “Week of Extra Respect,” says Superintendent Dr. Margaret Dolan.
In response to concerns voiced by parents and track and field student-athletes about a possible March 1 start date for the Kehler Stadium renovation project, the Westfield Board of Education is expected to approve at its Oct. 9 meeting an amendment to the contract that sets April 8 as the date for construction to begin.
